Spent my Last Weekend in Amalfi Coast

Crazy that I am writing about my last weekend trip already. 6 weeks came and went in what felt like how long it takes me to write this paragraph.

I am sad to leave, but also excited to head home to see everyone again and have a little bit of calm in my life again. This weekend was a reminder of how tired I am from study abroad!

We left around 6pm on Thursday night for a 3 day trip to the Amalfi Coast. The ride down we took a bus and the total amount of time it took to drive down was about 8 hours. We got there roughly around 2am and headed straight to bed (which of course our room was located on the top of the cliff at the hostel on the 9th level) because we had to get up at 5:30am for breakfast.

The next day, Friday, started off with our breakfast and then a drive to the coast so we could load onto a ferry to travel to island of Capri. We spent most of the day walking around the upper parts of Capri and looking into the stores (not buying anything because it is one of the most expensive places in Europe!) We stopped and ate at the La Capannina Ristorante (might I add that a ton of celebrities have eaten here including Shawn Mendes!) The food was the best that I have had since being in Europe, so delicious.

The rest of the day included us taking a huge boat around the island of Capri, and also doing the Blue Grotto (which in my opinion I could have skipped the Blue Grotto part). Blue Grotto is a dark cave where the water glows blue because of the sun hitting under the water. It was cool to see, but it lasted only 2 minutes and the experience was kind of weird with the guy who took us into it with a tiny boat. He ended up hitting me accidentally with his oar and we barely fit into the opening of the cave so it was kind of scary.

Saturday we made our way to Positano. Positano is the cliffside town at Amalfi Coast with the colorful houses that line the coastline. It is truly beautiful. We started off by taking a private boat for a couple hours around the outskirts of the coast. It was my favorite part about the trip, because every so often we were able to jump into the water and swim around and there was cliff jumping.

Positano also has a beach next to the water that we spent the rest of our day at tanning and relaxing.

Sunday was our last day of the trip and it was spent at Pompeii. I wasn't really sure what to expect but I am glad that we decided to go in with a tour guide. Turns out I loved my experience in Pompeii, it was so interesting to learn more about the history and there is a lot still left behind to see. It was heartbreaking to see the people embalmed that are left behind and all of the buildings and belongings of families and people that are still there. Very glad that I took part in the visit to Pompeii because there was a lot I didn't know about it that I learned that day.

Now I am back in Florence, after traveling 8+ more hours home from Amalfi/Pompeii on the bus last night.

I have a week left of classes and finals to finish up, and I am going to try my best to soak in every moment.
